Spring Cleanse your Mental Body

HS_fountain_youth_1 (58K)

Illness does just not happen. Our body is constantly talking to us, giving us hints when we are out of balance, but we are usually too busy to listen. At some point, our body stops communicating and gives up the effort, causing illness to occur.

When illness sets in, it is not too late to reconnect to your body and to listen to its needs. What our body needs is adequate time to relax and recuperate. Yes, that means slowing down at times. Being more attentive. When we start to push against anything in life, we are simply pushing ourselves away from well-being.

"The environment you fashion out of your thoughts, your beliefs, your ideals,
your philosophy, is the only one you will ever live in." - Quote from O. S. Marden

Our beliefs about our own health greatly effects our ability to get well.
But how do our beliefs form? It starts with a thought. Many times that thought directly responds to what we are observing around us. We formed a lot of our beliefs during childhood, watching and listening to our parents and grandparents. Either we started to copy their way of living or decided to live differently.

The series of thoughts that aligned with each other over a period of time formed our beliefs.
If the balance of those thoughts are life affirming, we begin to feel and experience that our health and immunity is strong and consequentially our body heals much faster. If you are around people that always complaining of their aches and pains and your thoughts reflect fear - ("what if this illness happens to me?") - the slightest cold will sweep you off your feet. Whatever you believe becomes your reality.

Mental healing begins with assessing our present state of thought.
What is the nature of the majority of our thoughts? Is it mostly positive or is it mostly negative? If it is mostly negative, mental healing involves the substitution of these negative thoughts with more empowering and nurturing thoughts. We must utilize all the tools such as affirmations, meditation and self-talk to guide our mind to seeing only the positive.
